Administrative Management Department Learning Objective - Business Technology Skills
A solid foundation in current software and use of the Internet are absolute necessities in the modern office. A series of software courses in areas such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software with progressive degrees of difficulty are required to prepare students to function effectively in the computer-oriented workplace.

ADM 136 Presentation Graphics and Desktop Publishing, 4 units
Prerequisite: ADM 120.
Continuing work within Microsoft Office Professional, learners concentrate on Microsoft PowerPoint, and learn basic skills in Microsoft Publisher to produce flyers, brochures, and newsletters.
Course Description: A continuing introduction to Microsoft office suite software. This 4-unit course introduces Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, the leading presentation software application and Microsoft Publisher 2003. The students learn to create professional slide presentations and publish them to a Web server. Microsoft Publisher 2003 is utilized to publish professional flyers, tri-fold brochures, and business newsletters. The student learns by producing case based business documents.
Prerequisites: ADM 120 ? Computer Applications.
Course Objectives: Utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 the student will learn the fundamentals of PowerPoint 2003 and the presentation development cycle. The ability to comprehend and utilize all the PowerPoint 2003 techniques necessary to pass the MOUS PowerPoint Certification examination.
Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 has steadily gained ground and has become the most widely used desktop publishing program in the world. Publisher is packaged as part of the Microsoft Office Professional suite of business applications and the student will be introduced to desktop publishing through the completion of six projects covering the basics of creating and editing a publication, designing a newsletter, creating a tri-fold brochure, creating business forms and tables.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION:
This class is a skills lab, and as such students, are working at their own pace, self-teaching utilizing the required text, aided by, demonstrations and hands on individual help from the instructor. A combination of lecture, text reading and exercises are used to present concepts and skills. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace with assistance from instructor when requested, however; theory and machine tests dates are final. It is up to the student to maintain a pace that will match the minimum pace set forth in this outline.

Basis of Evaluation: The quarter grade will be based on the accurate completion of the application activities in each chapter/unit and the Projects assigned at the end of each lesson.

LATE ASSIGNMENT POLICY: Late assignments will not be graded until the current weeks assignment has been completed, the instructor notified that the current weeks work is in the student folder, the instructor has then given the student permission to submit specific late assignments and the assignments committed to by the student are in the student?s folder at the agreed upon time. All late work will be penalized.
PLAGIARISM: Plagiarism is not condoned or excused. Project assignments, lab assignments and exams are expected to be the individual work of the student. Violation of the honor code or plagiarism is cause for dismissal.
