TYPING SPEED DEVELOPMENT II-COURSE OUTLINE

CREDIT: 2 UNITS

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Typing Speed Development II is a continuation of Typing Speed Development I and is designed to improve keyboarding speed by analyzing typing techniques and prescribing practice that will help the student key faster and more accurately.

OBJECTIVES: Improve the student's speed and accuracy; both rapidly and significantly.

PREREQUISITES: Ability to type 40 wpm on a five-minute test or approval of instructor.

HOURS OF INSTRUCTION: Five 50-minute periods per week.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOK AND MATERIALS:

COURSE CONTENT: The student works at his/her own rate under the general supervision of the instructor, with supervised timed writings.

EVALUATION: Weekly assigned work (33.3%), amount of improvement shown (C=5 words, B=7 words, A=10 words, 33.3%); and weekly attendance grade (33.3%).

ATTENDANCE POLICY: The student's grade will be lowered by one (1) grade level for each nine (9) absences during the quarter. RETURNING STUDENTS WHO REGISTER LATE WILL NOT RECEIVE EXCUSED ABSENCES FOR ANY DAYS MISSED THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF THE QUARTER.

NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED IN THE TYPING ROOM.

NO STUDENT WILL BE ADMITTED TO CLASS AFTER CLASS HAS BEEN IN PROGRESS FOR 5 (FIVE) MINUTES.
