H.R.1
H.R.1, commonly known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, was signed into law on July 4, 2025. The bill introduced changes to federal aid programs and how students and families pay for higher education. Those changes will take effect on July 1, 2026.
Understand the Changes:
- Grad PLUS loans will be eliminated for new borrowing.
- Graduate loan limits: $20,500 per year, $100,000 total (not including undergrad loans)
- Professional loan limits (for programs like Law): $50,000 per year, $200,000 total (not including undergraduate loans)
- Parent PLUS limits: $20,000 per year per student, $65,000 total per student
- New overall lifetime federal loan cap: $257,500 (excluding Parent PLUS)
- Part-time enrollment may reduce your loan eligibility
- Federal repayment options may change over time
- Creation of a new standard repayment plan and a new income-based repayment plan (RAP). Some existing plans will be eliminated in 2028.
If you are a new student or a new transfer student at Humphreys University, the new loan rules apply to you immediately.

Make sure you submit your financial aid documents in a timely manner
