Applying For Aid
Steps To Apply
Complete the FAFSA or CADAA
- Submit the FAFSA at gov or the CADAA at dream.csac.ca.gov.
- Enter the Humphreys University school code: 001212.
- Applications should be submitted as soon as possible after October 1 for the following academic year.
Submit GPA Verification (Cal Grant Applicants Only)
- Required for California residents seeking Cal Grant consideration.
- The Registrar’s Office certifies GPAs for students with at least 36 college credits.
- Recent high school graduates may use their verified high school GPA.
- Some students may need to request GPA verification directly from a prior institution.
Review of the FAFSA Submission Summary
- After submitting the FAFSA, students are sent a FAFSA Submission Summary. This document summarizes the information provided and includes the Student Aid Index (SAI) used to determine federal aid eligibility.
- After submitting the California Dream Act Application (CADAA), students receive a confirmation page and a Dream ID number from the California Student Aid Commission. This information is used to access their financial aid status through WebGrants for Students.
Tips For Success
- Apply early: Submitting the application shortly after December 1st increases the likelihood of receiving maximum federal and state aid.
- Use the IRS Direct Data Exchange: Students are encouraged to consent to the secure transfer of tax information from the IRS to reduce errors and simplify the verification process.
- Understand dependency status: FAFSA dependency criteria may differ from IRS or tax filing definitions. Students should review these carefully to ensure accurate reporting.
- List all schools under consideration: Up to 20 institutions may be listed on the FAFSA or CADAA. Students should ensure that Humphreys University is included.
- Monitor communications: Students should regularly check their email and the FAFSA or CADAA webpages for updates, requests for documentation, and important deadlines.
Financial Aid Eligibility
To qualify for most federal and state financial aid programs, a student must:
- Demonstrate financial need (for most programs).
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
- Have a valid Social Security number (exceptions apply for certain Pacific Island students).
- Be admitted as a regular student in an eligible program of study.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), as defined in 34 CFR §668.34.

- Certify that they are not in default on a federal student loan and do not owe a Title IV grant overpayment.
- Provide proof of high school completion, such as a high school diploma, GED, or state-approved homeschool equivalent.
